The story behind Shiseido

Did you know that Shiseido is the oldest and fourth largest cosmetics company in the world? Founded in 1872, Shiseido was Japan’s first Western-style pharmacy that quickly grew in popularity by building a clientele of royalty and high society. Over the years, Shiseido shifted from pharmaceuticals to cosmetics with the introduction of their Eudermine skin lotion, which is still popular today. In this review, we’ll cover some of the best selling products from the Shiseido Benefiance skincare line, the brand’s best selling anti-aging collection.

What are the best selling Shiseido Benefiance skincare products?

The Shiseido Benefiance collection includes 20 different products that are meant to reduce signs of aging, including dryness and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. If you’re looking for a particular type of product, you’ll be able to find everything you need to create a skincare routine in the Shiseido Benefiance, including cleansers, day and night creams, eye creams, and more. But if you aren’t sure where to get started with this collection, check out these best selling Shiseido Benefiance skincare products below.

One of the most popular products is the Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Resist 24 Night Cream. This rich anti-aging night cream is said to offer visible reduction in the appearance of wrinkles, while promoting overnight recovery for silky smooth skin by morning.

Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Eye Cream is an anti-aging eye cream that is claimed to visibly correct wrinkles in just 1 week. The product is said to target six types of eye wrinkles, including crow’s feet, corner crinkling, under-eye wrinkles, lid creases, under-puff lines and stress wrinkles between the brows.

Shiseido Benefiance NutriPerfect Day Cream is a protective day cream for mature skin experiencing visible signs of aging such as discoloration and loss of resilience. This cream is said to help restore the appearance of firmer skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

What are the key ingredients in Shiseido Benefiance skincare products?

The key ingredients used in Shiseido Benefiance skincare products sound pretty good, such as hyaluronic acid, chlorella, turmeric, mukurossi, and gambir extracts. But there’s just one problem: Shiseido uses extremely low concentrations of these “key” ingredients. For example, chlorella extract is very last on the ingredient list for Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Resist 24 Night Cream. This means that it is the lowest concentration ingredient! All of the beneficial ingredients in Shiseido Benefiance skincare products are listed after the preservatives on the ingredient list. In fact, these Shiseido products contain more fragrance and preservatives than active ingredients!

So what ingredients make up the majority of these Shiseido Benefiance skincare products? Mostly synthetic emollients, silicones, film-formers, and other fillers. For example, the highest concentration ingredients in the Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Eye Cream include water, hydrogenated polydecene (emollient), glycerin (humectant), mineral oil (emollient), petrolatum (emollient), butylene glycol (texture enhancer), and paraffin (emollient). While these ingredients aren’t bad for your skin (unless you prefer to avoid petroleum-derived ingredients), they definitely aren’t very impressive. Especially considering the fact that Shiseido Benefiance costs $70 for just half an ounce!

Taking a closer look at the key ingredients in Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Resist 24 Night Cream, we noticed that this formula contains a high concentration of denatured alcohol. A high concentration of denatured alcohol is problematic for all skin types because this type of alcohol is well known to cause skin dryness, irritation, and even disruption of the skin barrier. So instead of hydrating your skin and reducing signs of aging, Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Resist 24 Night Cream has the potential to cause dryness, damage, and make signs of aging look even worse over time! Another strike against this product is that it’s packed with fragrance ingredients, which often cause skin irritation and sensitivity.

Where is Shiseido Benefiance sold?

Shiseido Benefiance and other Shiseido skincare products are sold on the brand’s website, as well as third party retailers such as Sephora, Ulta, Macy’s, Walmart, and more. There’s also a store locator on the brand’s website so you can find a physical location that sells Shiseido Benefiance skincare products near you.

Is Shiseido cruelty free?

Shiseido is not cruelty free. In the brand’s animal testing policy, they state they do not test on animals. However, Shiseido skincare products are sold in mainland China where animal testing is required by law.

Shiseido Benefiance reviews

Shiseido Benefiance reviews on the brand’s website are mostly positive, with the eye cream receiving the most reviews so far. After more than 300 customer reviews, the Shiseido Benefiance eye cream has an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. Positive reviews for this eye cream mention that it goes on very smoothly and helps address fine lines, dryness, and dark circles. There aren’t many negative reviews for this product, but the few that we found seem to all mention that the cream left a greasy feeling behind and didn’t absorb well into the skin.

Shiseido Benefiance reviews for the Wrinkle Resist 24 Night Cream are mostly positive, with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars after about 20 customer reviews. Positive reviews for this night cream mention that it helps to keep the skin hydrated, particularly those who are struggling with dry skin. Negative reviews for this night cream are from customers who experienced acne breakouts after using this product.

Shiseido Benefiance reviews for the NutriPerfect Day Cream are mostly positive, with customers appreciating the light texture that helps to keep the skin hydrated. However, there are quite a few customers that mention the scent of the NutriPerfect Day Cream is quite strong. We also noticed that while most of the reviews say the cream feels good on the skin, there really aren’t many reviews that confirm whether or not this cream helps with signs of aging.
