Mary Kay Review: 10 Best Mary Kay Products

SKIN CARE REVIEWS

11.12.22DISCLAIMER

Tiffany Blue. Coca-Cola Red. Hermès orange. A few brands are closely associated with one color and in the cosmetics world, Mary Kay has cornered the market on pink.

This iconic brand has been around since 1963, the year that Mary Kay Ash launched the company with just nine products — five skin care items and four makeup products. What set her strategy apart was that she also launched with nine independent beauty consultants to help spread the word about the brand.

What are the Best Skin Care Products of 2024?

Today, Mary Kay has an estimated 3.5 million independent beauty consultants in more than 35 markets worldwide, and global annual sales are estimated at $4 billion. Mary Kay is one of the pioneers of direct sales cosmetics, which is also the sales model for Rodan + Fields and Beautycounter

Due to the nature of multi-level marketing (MLM) companies, it’s important to really evaluate both the product formulations and Mary Kay reviews from real customers. And that’s exactly what we’ll cover in this review, so keep scrolling to read all the details on the Mary Kay skin care line.

What Are The Top 10 Best Mary Kay Skin Care Products?

The Mary Kay skin care collection includes products for a variety of skin concerns, everything from acne to anti-aging to sensitive skin and more. Here’s a breakdown of the top 10 best Mary Kay skin care products.

Mary Kay CC Cream Sunscreen Broad Spectrum

We all have those days when a full face of makeup seems like an impossible task. That’s when a CC cream comes to the rescue. The Mary Kay CC Cream has its fair share of pros and cons, and we are going to highlight some of them for you.

The lightweight texture of this CC cream makes for a great sheer coverage tinted moisturizer with a dewy finish. If you’re looking for something to even out your skin tone, this CC cream is worth a try.

It’s also important to note that the Mary Kay CC cream is fragrance free and contains some beneficial, skin-loving ingredients like niacinamide and vitamin C.

Unfortunately, this CC cream is only available in 4 shades with the darkest shade having strong tones of orange.

Also, the SPF 15 in this CC cream is not enough to protect against sunburn and skin cancer because most organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, recommend using at least SPF 30.

Bottom Line: Mary Kay CC Cream is a lightweight tinted moisturizer that offers sheer coverage to help even out skin tone while also providing benefits to skin thanks to niacinamide and vitamin C.

Mary Kay Timewise Repair Foaming Cleanser

Mary Kay Timewise Cleanser has a creamy consistency that feels nice on the skin and also does a pretty decent job at washing off makeup, sunscreen, and excess oil.

Like most cleansers, the Mary Kay Timewise Cleanser includes several different types of surfactants, such as sodium stearoyl glutamate, sodium cocoyl glutamate, and cocamidopropyl betaine.

Surfactants are able to attract and suspend oils, dirt, and other impurities that have accumulated on the skin and wash them away, leaving the skin clean.

The Mary Kay Timewise Cleanser also includes the Age Minimize 3D Complex, which consists of encapsulated resveratrol, vitamin B3, and a peptide. These are great anti-aging ingredients, but keep in mind that this is a rinse-off product, which means these ingredients won’t have much time to help with signs of aging.

Another problem with this cleanser: the fragrance ingredients ethylene brassylate and methyl dihydrojasmonate may cause skin sensitivity.

Bottom Line: A basic cleanser that uses surfactants to wash away impurities, and while the formula contains a few anti-aging ingredients, it’s better to use leave-on products (such as a serum or moisturizer) with these ingredients so they have time to work.

Mary Kay Timewise Repair Lifting Serum

You might think that the Mary Kay Timewise Repair Lifting Serum can lift sagging skin as the name suggests. However, if you read carefully, you’ll find that the product doesn’t claim to tighten sagging skin, it only claims to give the appearance of tighter skin.

One way this serum creates the appearance of tighter skin is with the high concentrations of silicones in the formula. Silicones give products a silky texture while improving spreadability. They also help to disguise lines and wrinkles by forming a thin invisible film on top of skin. However, this effect is temporary and will disappear once you wash off the product.

While this serum contains a peptide, an ingredient that can help boost your skin’s collagen production, it’s also packed with some unnecessary and potentially irritating ingredients, such as lavender, peppermint, and menthyl lactate.

Bottom Line: Mary Kay Timewise Repair Lifting Serum cannot lift sagging skin, although it may give the appearance of tighter skin due to the high concentrations of silicones in this formula.

Mary Kay Timewise Repair Day Cream Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30

The Mary Kay Timewise Repair Day Cream is an oil-free moisturizer that provides broad spectrum SPF 30 thanks to a combination of chemical sunscreen ingredients.

While chemical sunscreen ingredients won’t leave a white cast, we don’t recommend these types of sunscreens due to
research
that has shown they absorb through the skin and into the bloodstream. It’s still unclear if these chemicals are linked to health conditions, but it’s known that they do enter the body. In our opinion, mineral sunscreens are a safer choice.

We’re glad to see that the product contains decent amounts of some skin-loving ingredients like antioxidants, peptides, and other barrier-repairing ingredients. However, the claims made by Mary Kay about their Volu-Firm complex continue to remain dubious due to the lack of proper research about the ingredient’s efficacy in tightening sagging skin.

Bottom Line: Mary Kay Timewise Repair Day Cream combines antioxidants, peptides, and barrier-repairing ingredients with chemical sunscreen ingredients, but keep in mind that these ingredients are absorbed into the body.

Mary Kay Timewise Repair Night Treatment With Retinol

At first, the Timewise Repair Night Treatment with Retinol had us pleasantly surprised. Unlike most retinol products, this product is not likely to cause skin dryness. Packed with antioxidants, peptides, and soothing plant extracts, this lush and emollient cream feels great on the skin and provides an ample amount of moisture.

We’re also happy to see that the product is packaged in an airless jar in order to ensure the stability of the ingredients, which is especially important for retinol.

As for the anti-aging benefits of retinol, you can expect to see fewer lines and wrinkles, a more even skin tone, increased firmness, and less noticeable pores.

However, we can’t help but notice the presence of cinnamon bark extract, a potential skin irritant. Additionally, this product relies on Mary Kay’s Volu-Firm technology, which is not backed by appropriate research to support the brand’s claims.

Bottom Line: Mary Kay Timewise Repair Night Treatment With Retinol has a rich, creamy texture and provides several anti-aging benefits thanks to retinol, antioxidants, and peptides, although the presence of cinnamon bark extract could cause irritation.

Mary Kay Timewise Repair Eye Renewal Cream

The brand claims that the Mary Kay Timewise Repair Eye Renewal Cream can reduce the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles. However, the ingredients in this eye cream aren’t much different from a regular moisturizer.

The majority of the formula consists of the humectant glycerin, petrolatum (aka Vaseline), and mineral oil. The combination of these ingredients creates a thick, creamy texture that will likely feel very soothing to those with dry skin around the eyes.

Giving credit where it’s due, Mary Kay does a good job with the packing of this product. The opaque tube ensures that light and air-sensitive ingredients remain stable.

Bottom Line: Mary Kay Timewise Repair Eye Renewal Cream is a basic moisturizer that will help to soften and soothe skin around the eyes, but the formula lacks anti-aging ingredients with proven benefits.

Mary Kay Clear Proof Charcoal Mask

The Mary Kay Charcoal Mask is advertised as a deep cleansing mask and rightly so! Just as the name suggests, one key ingredient is activated charcoal. Activated charcoal helps to purify skin by trapping toxins and impurities in its millions of tiny pores.

The mask also contains two naturally-derived clays, kaolin and bentonite, which help to absorb excess oil, clear pores, and exfoliate sin.

The addition of honeysuckle and navy bean extracts in the mask are supposed to help with dark spots and discoloration. However, there are other ingredients that have more research to support their ability to reduce dark spots, such as alpha-arbutin and vitamin C.

Bottom Line: Mary Kay Clear Proof Charcoal Mask combines activated charcoal with two types of clay in order to reduce excess oil, clear pores, and exfoliate skin.

Mary Kay Hydrogel Eye Patches

Mary Kay Hydrogel Eye Patches are perfect for days when coffee doesn’t do the job well enough. With glycerin as one key ingredient, these eye patches do a pretty good job at drawing moisture into the skin, thereby hydrating and plumping skin around the eyes.

There’s also a plethora of antioxidant-rich botanical extracts in these eye patches, such as blueberry, blackberry, and wild cherry extract. And there’s a few extracts that will help to soothe skin and reduce inflammation, such as tomato and hibiscus.

While there are beneficial ingredients in these patches, we wish they included more ingredients that are known to help reduce puffiness, crow’s feet, and dark circles, such as caffeine and peptides.

Bottom Line: Mary Kay Hydrogel Eye Patches include glycerin and botanical extracts to increase hydration while also providing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Mary Kay Botanical Effects Moisturizing Gel

This oil-free moisturizing gel has a lightweight texture that glides onto skin effortlessly and helps skin instantly feel more hydrated. That’s because there’s plenty of moisture-binding ingredients in the formula, such as glycerin and aloe vera.

However, it’s important to note that the formula contains its fair share of potentially concerning ingredients, like triethanolamine and iodopropynyl butylcarbamate. These ingredients can cause irritation and lead to acne (despite the product being branded as non comedogenic).

Additionally, Mary Kay Botanical Effects Moisturizing Gel contains quite a few fragrance ingredients, which could lead to skin sensitivity.

Bottom Line: Mary Kay Botanical Effects Moisturizing Gel contains hydrating ingredients like aloe vera and glycerin, but there’s quite a few problematic ingredients in this formula.

Mary Kay Satin Hands Fragrance Free Nourishing Shea Cream

With shea butter being the star of the show, this hand cream is undoubtedly a great product to keep your palms and cuticles moisturized. Shea butter is a nourishing emollient rich in beneficial fatty acids and vitamins that helps to soften skin and lock in moisture.

There’s plenty more emollients in this formula, including sunflower seed oil and apricot kernel oil, as well as antioxidant vitamin E. Plus, the quick absorbing formula ensures your hands remain grease-free.

The only drawback with the Mary Kay Satin Hands formula is DMDM hydantoin, a preservative that’s a common irritant as it is a formaldehyde releaser.

Bottom Line: Mary Kay Satin Hands Shea Cream includes shea butter and several additional emollients to moisturize and soften hands.

What Are The Key Ingredients in Mary Kay Skin Care Products?

Most of the ingredients in Mary Kay skin care products are pretty common, for example, the brand uses humectants like glycerin and propylene glycol, silicones like dimethicone and cyclopentasiloxane, and emollients like shea butter and petrolatum.

There also appears to be an emphasis on plant extracts in certain products. For example, we were surprised to find out that the Mary Kay Hydrogel Eye Patches contain over 30 plant extracts.

Unfortunately, quite a few Mary Kay skin care products contain plant extracts that have the potential to cause skin irritation, such as lavender, cinnamon, and peppermint.

While most of the Mary Kay skin care products contain pretty standard ingredients, the brand attempts to create innovative formulations in their Timewise Repair line. Every product in the Timewise Repair collection consists of the patented Volu-Firm Complex.

The Volu-Firm Complex is made of two peptides and two plant extracts. Together, these ingredients are said to improve the appearance of sagging and wrinkles while helping skin maintain the look of youthful firmness, elasticity, and volume.

The only problem? There’s no independent research to back up these claims. On the brand’s website, you can see that the claims made for these ingredients are based on in-vitro testing, which means the tests were performed in a test tube — not on humans.

How Much Do Mary Kay Skin Care Products Cost?

Mary Kay skin care products are in the mid to high range in terms of cost. For example, Mary Kay Timewise Repair Lifting Serum costs $70 USD for 1 fl oz, while Mary Kay Satin Hands Shea Cream costs just $12 USD for 3 oz.

Where to Buy Mary Kay Skin Care Products?

Mary Kay skin care products can be purchased directly from the company’s website, on third party online retailers like Amazon, or from an independent Mary Kay consultant. We recommend taking a look at the Mary Kay reviews before talking to a consultant because at the end of the day their job is to make a sale.

What is The Mary Kay Return Policy?

The Mary Kay return policy states, “If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with any Mary Kay product purchased from an authorized Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant, it will be replaced without charge, exchanged or the full purchase price refunded following its return to your authorized Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant or, if she is no longer active, to the Company with proof of purchase.”

Is Mary Kay Cruelty Free?

Mary Kay is not cruelty free. While Mary Kay does not conduct animal testing on their products or ingredients, they do test on animals when required to do so by law (such as in China).

Is Mary Kay Vegan?

Mary Kay may offer some products that are suitable for vegans, but this is not a 100% vegan brand.

Our Verdict

Overall, we think that some Mary Kay skin care products are better than others, and we would recommend avoiding the products with fragrance and other potential irritants.

Pros

  • Products contain beneficial ingredients like emollients, antioxidants, peptides, and retinol
  • Many positive Mary Kay reviews

Cons

  • Mary Kay is not cruelty free
  • No independent research to back up the claims about Volu-Firm Complex
  • Many products contain fragrance and potential irritants

If you’re looking for skincare products to address the signs of aging, we recommend Carrot & Stick. Carrot & Stick maximizes the use of powerful ingredients and minimizes the use of superficial ones, resulting in advanced skincare solutions that help promote healthy, more youthful-looking skin.

I was a skin care & cosmetic Consultant for Fashion Two-Twenty at the age of 16! That eventually led me to a career with Christian Dior but not before becoming a Mary Kay Consultant.
What I want to know is where that fabulous greasy cold cream is! It was called makeup Remover but I used it for perfect skin (in every way). we are animals. We are designed with one stomach; to eat mears as well as fruits, tubers, and vegetables.

Common Sense: Have you ever seen a tree growing out of your forehead or greens growing out of your lips? NO. And you’re not going to! We are humans & at the very top of the Animal Kingdom. If you want to soften the skin of any animal, what do you use? Grease. Some kinds are better than others. That is how Mary Kay got her start. She asked a Taxi-Dermist how to soften skins. Grease was the answer! I want my perfectly greasy cold cream, in the original pink jar, (the best seller) that liquified on your face within 10 minutes. Then you take what doesn’t sink in off with a warm washcloth….Baby Butt Skin!
Yes. I do look 20 years younger than I am!

(review based on companies morals) Mary Kay as a company is a joke but it is a community. All consultants they have as ground workers are just everyday people, good for marketing, terrible for actual questions such as understanding their ingredients. Most of them don’t even understand the extent of parabens and drying acids contained in their product(s). Hard for me to back a company who has their product sellers know so little about their actual products. Great for selling product to the people you know and who trust you though, they will believe whatever you tell them. That’s why I came to a dermatology reviews about this company and their product. I have to appreciate the hustle though.

Did you ever get any answers on this? Each time was it the same exact set? I do apologize that the consultant you were working with blew you off. It is not our policy. Your skin type plays a major role in the products you should get along with age.maybe one time you got products for oily skin and the next for dry skin. That would cause some issues.i hope this helps .

Contact me and ask how you can too there are several options for you. My approach is “Mary Kay Your Way” and there are a number of ways to join without pressure and massive debt right out of the gate.

You are so right! Overpriced and a terrible, exploitative business model. MK made my face feel like it was on fire and the rep just dismissed me. The Ordinary or DM is the way to go. Great products at reasonable prices.

  • Tanna Original review: Dec 31, 2020. Reply

It seems this reviewer has a biased opinion toward a couple of skin care companies based on the above review. It’s regrettable they’ve dismissed the Mary Kay skin care line as just ‘covering up’ with make-up. Of course Mary Kay offers terrific make up, but Mary Kay also offers incredible products to meet your skin care needs for every age, from pre-teen to our golden years. If you want to experience special skin care products check out the Mary Kay biocellulose masks, eye gel patches, charcoal and moisturizing masks and the microdermabrasion treatment. Your skin will be renewed!

I haven’t tried any of the products for 30 days yet to say whether or not anything works. However, I tried the TimeWise 4-1 cleanser here is where it got a little tricky for me; my skin changes throughout the seasons to oily, combination to dry. I noticed my skin was a bit oily, so I tried the cleanser for combination to oily skin holy crap! The cleanser dried my face out so bad I developed red dry patches all over my face and neck. I freaked out. I didn’t know what was causing the red patchy rash because I typically do not have any sensitivity to products, so I stopped using MK for a few days, and it was MK once I stopped using it my skin went back to normal. I wanted to give MK another try, so I started using the 4-1 cleanser for combination to dry skin. I’ve been using it for over two weeks now and no problems. For me, it was just trying to find the right cleanser for my skin type. WARNING for anyone that doesn’t have super oily skin DO NOT use the combination to oily skin Timewise 4-1 cleanser that crap will dry your face out like a prune! I’m still in the process of really trying to see if I see any visible changes nothing as of yet other than my face seems smoother but nothing too noticeable. Would I recommend MK Ehh probably not.

I’m hoping you got this figured out! I had the same problem! The new 3D skincare is so advanced & purifying the company prewarns you might have breakouts or skin irritations due to the product & it might bring out any future breakouts which would have happened naturally. The cool thing is the new MK skincare nips it in the butt so future breakout are minimal! I love how my skin is so much more healthy looking & brightening!! Please let me know if I can help you! It’s the BEST brand!

This may be due to the fact that there are different formulas for normal to dry or normal to oily and you may be using the wrong one for your skin type. Also, she should be able to refund 100% or replace so you would not waste your money.

I work in tv so the face I present to the world is important. Live the demo. Fmskin felt great 2 days last after buying 176 dollar set of time wise my whole face is covered in a red rash. I told the consultant I had sensitive skin and she said it would fine. Is it normal to break out like this?

  • Marissa Young Original review: Aug 06, 2018. Reply

I would be curious to know if you got the same formula each time? There is a normal/dry formula and a combo/oil formula. If you use the wrong one for your skin type it could either be over or under-hydrating causing these different results you’ve experienced. Also did you use a different skincare regime in between the TimeWise sets/consultant changes?

A few years back I was a customer of Mary Kay products and used their Soothing Eye Mask. I used to love that product, but now I use the Made from Earth Chamomile Eye Therapy for under my eyes. I LOVE this product. I used to tell people that it was a life saver because you could be running on no sleep at all and the product would completely remove all puffiness and no one would ever suspect that you weren’t well-rested. It makes me feel more awake.

Been using MK timewise cleanser and moisturizer since college as I was impressed by the demonstration did of the consultant 3 blocks away from our house. I did purchased new one after I finished the first set. And in my second luck, I instantly got pimples whenever I’m using it (i got them from a different consultant and tried reaching out as to why I am having a different result from the previous one and I never got a proper reply. She wasted my money) now that I am here in abu dhabi, I did buy again (from a new consultant) and I noticed that my face got worse. There are blackheads breakout. Can somebody explains why? I feel so bad about my face.

I am absolutely thrilled with the Mary Kay products which I was introduced to them about one month ago. I am using the Time Wise products and my 13 year old daughter is using the botanical skin care products. I do not wear make up and never will but my daughter enjoys the samples that the consultant provides. My husband’s hands get very dry as he is a mechanic and they get covered with grease which dries them out and I had been buying a drug store lotion for him which worked okay and then he ran out and so I noticed that he was using my sample lotions from the consultant as well!! So I will be purchasing the hand lotion for him as he states that it works better than the drug store brand.

Hello everyone, yes my name is Fernando, and I am guy who is extremely proud with his results. I used to have dry skin with a fatty cyst on my left cheek. The cyst is completely gone and my skin has improved dramactically. The dryness was caused due to anithestamines and cold climate. My professional beauty consultant did a proper assessment on my skin and did an awesome recommendation product line. Most of all, I personally follow a healthy diet, and drink plenty of water. I feel better about myself. My self esteem is better. Thank you MK.

    ******** That’s my rating.

Mary Kay is such a crappy crappy product. All of it is junk for your face, none of it is healthy to put on. Don’t waste your time and money on this crappy stuff. Your skin will feel tight and horrible. The makeup looks like something for a clown to wear at the circus. I hate the parties they do, none of them know what they’re talking about. Plus they always push there producrs on you to buy. Or they will try to keep bothering you to get a job with them. If I don’t like the product, why would I work for you? Just never ever try this Mary Kay, I promise you your face will be great without all that shit on you. Try a high end makeup brand, it might be pricey, but at least you know it’s a better product for your face. Save your face ladies please.

If it’s sold at Ulta, it’s not professional. Dermalogica used to be sold only to professionals who had to undergo special training. They sold a few years back to a large cosmetics company and the formulations changed to meet the needs and requirements of over the counter goods. Professional products are only at Dermatologist offices and Med Spas.

Corrine. Actually MK DOES test on animals. I wrote to the company and they confirmed this. The do not test in the US, but in order to sell in China- they are required by law to test on animals. So the true companies that value life more than their pocketbook do not sell in China. Mary Kay is more concerned about money.

A little sadden with all the changes over the past few years. I have been using MK for over 20 years and looked good, younger even. My issue is the change in the skin care and foundation. I been using the skin care from the original formula 3 to the Time wise repair now that I am older. I now have large pores and my skin that was once smooth is turning bumpy since I been using the Timewise Repair. The foundation which I need the lightest colour ever is now too dark and I need to find another foundation Ivory 101 was what I used. I need a lighter shade which when MK had the lavender concealer was perfect, but now no more. So sadly I find my self using less MK and looking for something else.

My name is Tinu. I started using Mary Kay 3years ago. I used to have very dry skin and I was using Miracle Set Normal to Dry, within 1year of using it, I’ve to change to Combination / Oily because my T- Zone( my forehead & nose side) has changed to Oily. I ‘m now Independent Sales Director in UK. The Company is doing great with their Skincare ranges, enriches women by creating opportunities and flexibility. I’ll say things can go wrong when order of application of products is not right, when you’re using the wrong products for instance if you’re dry skin and you’re using products that is met for people that are Combination / Oily. If you need any concern with any Mary Kay products, feel free to contact me (UK)
and Mary Kay always make the Customers feel important and satisfied and the products come with100% customer satisfaction. If you’re not happy with your purchase return it to your consultant or call the company. Thanks for this forum.

I have to disagree. The Mary Kay products definitely promote change. I’ve been using Mary Kay for over 35 years and have fabulous skin. I recently switched to the Time Wise Repair system and have seen a remarkable difference in fine lines and wrinkles. I don’t know when you “researched” Mary Kay but they have an extensive team of dematologists and scientists that are constantly studying and improving upon their products. AND they do not test on animals AND the products are all made in the USA. Also, the company stands by their products 100%. When used consistently and properly the results are amazing! And having a personal skin care consultant (at no additional cost) is unprecedented in the industry.

For those claiming that Mary Kay doesn’t have any results, I researched and there are actually quite a few products that have the Good Housekeeping Seal of approval. Which, if you don’t know is really hard to get. It basically means that it’s proven to do exactly what it says.

I was a Mary Kay consultant 23 years ago and loved the product. My experience with the company was so positive that it was an influencing factor in my decision to become a licensed aesthetician. Now, I have returned to college to continue my education in Biology and Anthropology because there is a lot of misinformation about skin care that is shared even among professional aestheticians. My studio spa that I own only uses phytotherapy so as one who researches ingredients and their scientific effectiveness, I would say even “professional” lines are questionable. So why am I a Mary Kay Advanced Color Consultant? Because they are the only company that offers a real value with professional results. I have been to their company factory in Dallas, TX and they are impressive when it comes to quality control for their products. Some may say that only a professional can determine the best skin care regimen for a client. That’s only true some of the time. I’ve had to correct many a botched prescription for skin care by dermatologists. It all boils down to the knowledge and care of the practitioner.

As a skin care professional, I do not recomend this line at all. I used it for years and when I went to school to become a licensed professional esthetician I learned to study ingredients and the effects on the skin. Mary Kay will not reach below the stratum corneum layer of the skin. It is and occlusive product which will help prevent trans epidermal water loss, but it will not create change. Only a professional line will bring change and they can only purchased with a licensed skin professional. The ingredients are mostly functional or a combination of function and performance. Anything below the first preservative is less than 1% of the product but they can still claim it is there. Lines like PCA, Osmosis, and Image are great. There are many more out there with more to offer and they do not cost much more if any more than any cosmetic skin care line like Mary Kay. The proof is in the pudding. Research each ingredient and write it down one at a time. Mary Kat will take pages to research but it is your skin we are talking about. Vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, and hyaluronic acid are amazing for the skin. Chemical sunscreen is a chemical and your skin is a body organ absorbing the chemicals.

I just purchased the new skinvigorate brush and the cleanser and moisturizer. My skin has become very red and irritated so I figured I needed to cut down on how many times I use the brush. Its been four days and my skin is still red and raw. Is this the cleanser and moisturizer? My consultant said it is just the purging phase but I am very concerned. Would love to hear another opinion

Hey Princess, I’m also 19 and I went to a Mary Kay party recently and purchased $106.00 worth of MK Products. One of which is the 3-in-1 cleanser. I live in michigan, and it’s the winter time right now so my skin gets really dry. The cleanser alone adds a lot more moisture to my skin. I use it once every night

    Mary,
Yes the dark spot remover works, it is amazing. I am a Mary Kay consultant and used it for about 3 months. The age spots on my hands were almost gone so I quit. Now I have started again since more (or maybe the same ones) came back. Some of the spots didn’t which leads me to believe I quit too soon on the “bad boys”.
I looked on product central and according to the literature the shade of foundation you would want would be an Ivory 5 in the Timewise liquid foundations and and ivory 1 or 2 in the mineral powder.
I have been on the TW repair for a little over a year and love the results. I had more of a problem with uneven skin tone and the change is awesome. As for the pores have you tried the microdermabrasion. I have only been in MK for 18 months so I’m still fairly new so someone else out there might have more incite. I hope this helped.
    Happy New Year,
    Michelle

I quit using Mary Kay about 5 yrs ago and now my skin has gone from oily to combination/normal and sometimes dry from harsh products. I am also in menopause and have begun to notice large pores and brown spots. Also, the colors I used to use were ivory 200 mixed with ivory 202 as my unique color. Now all the colors and formulas have changed. I’m familiar with everything else. Could you wonderful consultants make suggestions for me. Mine is moving and wasn’t on point with my skin. So I’m re-inlisting with an order today mainly to purchase a year’s worth of my own products. Does the new dark spot remover work? Are the lifting cream and retinol night cream the real deal? Not watered down?
Any help is extremely important and a matter of weeks. I may be able to trade one product with my outgoing director. Thanks ladies!!

With any skin care line, you must be consistent with your application of the product in evaluating its true results. I find that most women I speak to use a variety of cleansing and moisturizing products that reportly clash and cause sensitivity and facial breakouts. Makeup, polution and other environmental factors combine usually contribute to pores being clogged, wrinkes and uneven skin tones. The consultant can help the consumer with selecting the right product suitable to their needs. This is important and the consultant is committed to personalizing skin care services to their customers. Try before you buy and receive an education on whats best for you! That’s the MK difference.

Perhaps you are using the wrong formula? I would get with your consultant and tell her your concerns. She would be happy to assist you. With Mary Kay if you are not completely satisfied you can exchange or she can refund your money. I’ve never had anyone want their money back, I’ve exchanged products; and they have since been happy. If she doesn’t (but she should) make sure you are happy, then you can call the company. Best of luck!

I am so happy to read all of these reviews as the majority are very positive! I too thought Mary Kay was “just another Avon” but once I started using the products I fell in love with the results and even became a consultant. If you tried it and didn’t like it … I am happy you did check it out. If you tried it and loved it like me… even better because every time you make a purchase, you aren’t only supporting a small business, you are also helping fund Cancer Research and you are keeping shelters open for Domestic Violence survivors. These are the reasons I am in love with the company! I just found out that you can turn in 10 of the plastic bottle caps or product containers and Mary Kay will have a tree planted…. more and more to love. Another huge thing is the boxes that Mary Kay sends your order in are amazing; you can rinse them away right in your driveway and they will not pollute- 100% no landfill….AMAZING. Way to go Mary Kay!

My mother started using Mary Kay when I was little and I used to put the “pink cream” on the cracks of my finger tips that I would get in the winter and it worked like a charm. I then started using MK when I was 19. I just turned 50 and still use it to this day. I cant say enough about the products. They are the best ! I did start my own MK business because I wanted to share these products with others and the training has been awesome. So, if you have ever wanted to try these products, I encourage you to do so. If you aren’t happy with them for any reason, there is a 100% money back guarantee!

So i’m a newbie to Mary K products and I will be honest, I thought, “Ehhh, just another avon like sales situation.” Of course I was wrong….I have been dealing with hormonal breakouts, which is horrid and never in my life had the problem before. I deal with acne scares, and breakouts etc. and i have been using the product for four days now and already i have seen a major difference. my skin is more smooth and supple, my skin color is almost completely evened out, pimples are almost ALL gone and now i feel confidant to walk out my door without makeup. I also stopped using and liquid foundations however i did get Mary K’s mineral foundation and i’d have to say it poses as a “healthy” medium to full coverage and now i don’t have to worry about waking up with a new pimple if incase i do fall asleep with my makeup on. I have just been doing the timewise regimen daily and four days later i’m already seeing amazing results!

Hannah, Most likely that cream, or at least its updated version, is now the Extra Emollient Night Cream. You can still purchase that product. It also may be the skin softener used in the Satin Hands Pampering Set, though it can’t be purchased separately. Check with your consultant to see if she (or he) can get you some samples of either/both of those creams.

Mary Kay is the only base makeup and eye shadow that I can wear without it making my skin and eyelids raw. I love the new cream eye shadows, especially. I also get told that I don’t look my age a lot. I have very few, if any wrinkles and lines on my face. I would give it 10/10!!

    Mary Kay Tinted Moisturizer Review

The Mary Kay Tinted Moisturizer has been a long time favorite from the brand as a light coverage base with a little bit of extra protection from harmful UV rays. With an SPF factor of 30, this product is considered to be an excellent option for everyday wear in order to prevent premature aging from environmental aggressors, UVA and UVB rays. Unfortunately though, this product is currently not available through the Mary Kay website and has been rumored to be discontinued. But if you like the sound of this product and would like to try an alternative from Mary Kay, you may want to try some of the other sun care products available from the brand. This includes the TimeWise Age Minimize 3D Day Cream SPF 30, the Mary Kay CC Cream with SPF 15 or the Mary Kay Sun Care Sunscreen with SPF 50. Depending on your needs, as well as how much protection you’d like in a daily sun care product you may find that one of these is a better fit than the others.

    INGREDIENTS

Mary Kay Indulge Soothing Eye Gel Review

Mary Kay Indulge Soothing Eye Gel contains botanical extracts reported to tone, firm, and reduce the appearance of puffiness around the sensitive eye area. One botanical extract is Camellia Sinensis (green tea) extract, which is well known for its calming properties and potent antioxidant effects. Cucumber extract is another ingredient that is known to soothe the skin and reduce inflammation. A final key ingredient in the Mary Kay Indulge Soothing Eye Gel is Rosa Canina (dog rose) fruit extract, a conditioner that improves the appearance of skin and helps it look softer and smoother.

Despite these beneficial botanical extracts, Mary Kay Indulge Soothing Eye Gel contains some ingredients that may actually be detrimental to the sensitive skin around the eyes. For instance, this eye gel contains witch hazel extract, an astringent that works by constricting and drying the skin. While witch hazel may help to reduce swelling around the eyes, it also may cause dryness. Another potentially negative ingredient in the Mary Kay Indulge Soothing Eye Gel is comfrey extract. Comfrey extract contains a high concentration of allantoin, which is why this extract is thought to accelerate healing and soothe inflamed or irritated skin. However, comfrey extract also contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids that have the potential to aggravate the skin. Lastly, Mary Kay Indulge Soothing Eye Gel contains Euphrasia Officinalis (eyebright) extract, which contains tannins that could aggravate the skin. Due to the potential to aggravate the delicate skin around the eye area with these three ingredients, the negatives may outweigh the positives with the Mary Kay Indulge Soothing Eye Gel.

Mary Kay Botanical Effects Mask Review

One of the most beloved original products from the Mary Kay line has been the Mary Kay Botanical Effects Mask. This unique mask was created to exfoliate the skin without stripping, and was one of the first options to offer multiple formulations for different skin types. The original Mary Kay Botanical Effects mask came in a range of different formulations for those with dry skin, oily skin as well as sensitive skin. But while different formulations were available, the core actives remained the same. This mask offers fruit enzymes as the central exfoliating agent which helps to gently remove dead skin cells and create a youthful, luminous glow. Unfortunately, this product has been disconnected, although you can still find it through a few retailers like Amazon and Ebay. If you’d still like to try an exfoliating product from the Mary Kay Botanical Effects range, you may want to try out the Mary Kay Botanical Effects Invigorating Scrub. While this product acts as a physical exfoliant rather than a chemical exfoliant, this newest addition to the Botanical Effects line still contains the primary antioxidant blend that was created with the original Botanical Effects Mask. This blend contains dragonfruit, which offers a range of antioxidants to help promote healing in the skin as well as scavenge the skin for any sources of free radicals that can lead to skin damage and premature aging.

Mary Kay Intense Moisturizing Cream Review

If you’re looking for a moisturizing cream that offers a significant dose of hydration and nourishment for those with dry skin, you may want to look into the Mary Kay Intense Moisturizing Cream. The idea behind this cream was to specifically focus on the skin’s moisture balance. There are a number of factors, including temperature, humidity, age, hormones and more that can disrupt this delicate balance. In order to restore balance to the skin, it is important that you’re moisturizing correctly and properly protecting your skin. The Mary Kay Intense Moisturizing Cream was designed help with these skin disruptions by creating a protective shield on the skin upon application. This shield helps to minimize moisture evaporation and keeps the skin hydration for up to 10 hours, which prevents many of those aforementioned factors from further disrupting the skin. Additionally, like many of the other products that Mary Kay offers, the Intense Moisturizing Cream is both fragrance-free and non-comedogenic, so you can use easily without worrying about sensitivity or irritation.

    Mary Kay Charcoal Mask Review

These days it seems like detox masks are absolutely everywhere. So how to products like the Mary Kay Charcoal Mask differentiate themselves? Looking at the key ingredients behind this face masks, there are several important distinctions to consider. This mask uses a triple-action approach in order to properly cleanse the skin, reduce shine and while also introducing several botanical extracts that work to help clear the skin of clogged pores and acne breakouts. Mary Kay describes their key ingredient, activated charcoal as a magnet that is capable of drawing out and binding double its weight in pore-clogging impurities. But this mask doesn’t stop there. Unlike most charcoal masks on the market, this product also contains multiple botanical extracts that tackle hyperpigmentation and acne scars. Oftentimes, even after acne has cleared, the acne scars and dark marks that are left behind can actually be even more difficult to get rid of, so it’s helpful to use products that tackle both aspects of achieving clearer skin.

    Mary Kay Primer

Mary Kay is an iconic brand in the beauty industry with a line packed with a number of solid makeup and skincare products. With some of its products are more extensive than others, you can be sure if there is a cosmetic product on the market, Mary Kay has created a version as part of its line. INGREDIENTS

    Mary Kay Skinvigorate

How Effective is Mary Kay Skinvigorate? If you’ve been looking for an easier way to remove makeup or to find a microdermabrasion alternative, then the Mary Kay Skinvigorate skin care system may be a possible solution. This treatment option from the Mary Kay skin care company is a brush tool designed to gently remove dirt and makeup from the skin’s surface. However, though this solution may seem interesting at first, it is important that you assess this product carefully and speak with a dermatologist before using the Mary Kay Skinvigorate brush tool. One of the reasons for this lies in the fact that the brush is designed to scrub your skin, which is a great idea on the surface (pun intended). However, those with sensitive skin or individuals dealing with persistent acne breakouts may do more harm than good when using this brush. After all, scrubbing your skin, even with a gentle brush, causes microscopic skin damage, which makes the Mary Kay Skinvigorate a skin care tool that should be used with great caution.

How the Mary Kay Skinvigorate Works

The premise behind the Mary Kay Skinvigorate brush is very simple; by using a specialized brush with small bristles, you can remove more dirt and makeup and dirt from the skin’s surface than you could by using your fingers alone. This is because the surface area of your fingers is relatively smooth and is too large to scrape away dirt and makeup situated within pores and small creases in the skin.

    Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel

Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel: an Overview If you’re creating your own acne treatment regimen out of Mary Kay skin care products, then you might consider adding Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel. This gel is one of several acne treatment items offered by the company, which was first founded by Mary Kay Addison in 1963. Since then, the company has introduced its products all over the globe via company representatives who distribute the products individually, including Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel. While this gel has been discontinued by the company, you may still be able to find it through individual distributors and on some online auction and resale sites. Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel is a benzoyl peroxide product and may cause irritation for first-time users.

Where to Buy Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel

Because Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel has been discontinued, you will have to search for it on resale sites. However, buying the product from these sites does come with some risks, such as receiving a product that has expired. If you buy a cream from a resale site that offers Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel reviews, you may want to take the time to read a number of them to ensure that those who have bought products from the site before have been satisfied with their purchase.

    Mary Kay Night Solution

Antioxidants are one buzzwords in the skincare industry that everyone wants but very few actually know what they’re used for. Because of this, we’re looking specifically at this category of ingredients, as well as a product that focuses exclusively on getting you your daily dose. The Mary Kay Night Solution offers a surprisingly large array of antioxidants to help with a variety of skincare concerns, while also protecting your skin from further damage. We’ll share a bit about the product itself, the formula behind it, as well as some information on the antioxidant components, so you can decide for yourself whether its time to invest in an antioxidant serum. So without further adieu, let’s get started!

Who Is The Mary Kay Night Solution Designed For?

The Mary Kay Night Solution is for anyone who wants to try a little bit of everything without fully committing to more serious skincare products like prescription retinoids or heavy duty vitamin C’s. While these products can lead to more dramatic results in a shorter amount of time, more and more research is coming out these days to support the idea that a lower dosage of these ingredients can be just as effective over a long period of time. For this reason, this product could be an excellent introductory antioxidant and active rich serum for those who are looking to incorporate some preventative measures into their skincare routine.

    Mary Kay TimeWise Night Solution

The Mary Kay Night Solution is most commonly found as a part of the TimeWise Miracle Set, which feature a four step routine that can tackle every aspect of your skincare routine, including cleansing, exfoliating, hydrating, protecting and treating the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in particular. The Mary Kay Night Solution fills the role of a treatment product in your routine, and the unique gel-like texture adds hydration without adding additional heaviness. Unlike other treatments however, this night serum combines several different active ingredients and antioxidants, instead of just one or two. The formula contains retinol palmitate, a vitamin C derivative, and 10 other botanical extracts that serve mainly as antioxidants. While the percentage of these ingredients is rather small in comparison to more specific treatment products, this serum could make a great all-in-one as well as introductory treatment product for those who are concerned with aging and skin damage.
