Skin Tightening Cream

From high-end department stores to neighborhood shopping centers, the health and beauty aisle is stocked with a wide selection of skin tightening creams. These creams are formulated to help tighten skin around the face, neck, and even the stomach. Many individuals purchase skin tightening creams as an alternative to cosmetic surgery or other invasive medical procedures that have significant recovery times. However, not all skin tightening creams are created equal. In order for individuals to get the best possible results for their dollar, it is important to understand how a skin tightening cream works and which ingredients you should look for when making the purchase. So what is the best skin tightening cream for younger looking skin? Is there a specific skin tightening cream that you recommend for the face?

Superior Ingredients

The price of skin tightening cream can range from anywhere to a few dollars to hundreds of dollars a bottle. But before you empty out your wallet for one or more of these products, you should know exactly what you are paying for. In order for skin tightening cream to be truly effective, it must contain two ingredients: collagen and elastin. Collagen is produced naturally by the body in order to keep skin looking firmer. Unfortunately, as people age, the natural production of collagen inside the body begins to slow down. This plays a significant role in the appearance of wrinkles and sagging skin. Elastin is an even more important factor when it comes to youthful looking skin. The body stops producing this crucial fiber relatively early in our lives, which is the main reason why skin begins to show wrinkles. The best skin tightening creams contain the latest peptides, stem cells and growth factors to target laxity.

The Science Behind Firmer Skin

Collagen, elastin, salicylic acid, and vitamin A are all vital ingredients for the best skin tightening creams to be effective, because of their effect on both its surface and underlying layers of the skin. Salicylic acid and vitamin A both stimulate collagen production, which helps skin retain and improve its elasticity (the ability for the skin to bounce back after being pulled). While very few creams available on the market today can actually stimulate elastin production within the skin, it is an important ingredient to any effective product. This is because elastin can help make the surface of the skin look firmer and fights the crepe paper effect that commonly appears on the back of the hands and the neck. Vitamin A is also helpful because it stimulates new cell growth within the skin, and creates long term effects by boosting natural collagen production.
Overall Effectiveness of Skin Tightening Creams

While many skin tightening creams on the market today can help reduce the appearance of some fine lines and fight sagging skin, their use alone will not be enough to keep skin looking youthful. Instead, these products should be used in conjunction with other skin care products. Good cleansers can help clean out clogged pores, and a face exfoliator should be used before the skin tightening cream is applied. This will help ingredients in the best skin tightening creams reach into deeper layers of the skin, and have a more meaningful effect. An overall skin care regimen that includes skin firming products with a balanced blend of retinol, collagen, and elastin can provide a viable solution for younger-looking, healthy skin.

Just a tip for trying different products less expensively: Shop at a beauty supply store such as Sally. They carry products that have the same active ingredients as many name brands, but at about half the cost for some of them. This way, you can try products with different ingredients to find what works best for your skin, instead of paying for a brand name.
