If you read popular publications like Marie Claire and InStyle Magazine, you may have heard about a skin care brand under the name of Renee Rouleau. This line of products was created by a woman of the same name, who started working in skin care at the age of 21, when she opened her first skin care salon. The products under this label were developed for 9 unique skin types that were identified by Renee Rouleau, with the goal of further customizing skin care options for consumer needs. Though many of the items in this line have received positive reviews, it’s important to note that true customization will not be possible in the skin care industry due to manufacturing limitations. (Perhaps one day, when 3D printer technology has advanced to the point of being able to print skin care products on a molecular level, this will change.) Therefore, products from the Renee Rouleau brand (as well as any other skin care brand) may never be a perfect fit for the average consumer. Because of these limitations, it is important to speak with a dermatologist before using any Renee Rouleau items in your skin care routine.
How Renee Rouleau Products Work
According to the manufacturer, the goal behind Renee Rouleau products is to improve skin health with a variety of active ingredients and chemicals that don’t clog pores. The company claims that it doesn’t test its products on animals and petroleum-based ingredients. Further, it suggests that many of its ingredients are cold pressed; a process which is meant to preserve the potency of nutrients (which are often negatively affected during more traditional methods of extraction that involve heat).
Renee Rouleau Skin Care Ingredients
The Renee Rouleau carries a wide range of products, with over 50 items for sale at the time of this writing. However, it’s important to note that this large offering is somewhat misleading initially, as some of the items are specifically designed for certain skin types and may not provide the best effects for everyone. With this in mind, let’s take a look at some of the Renee Rouleau ingredients.
- AHA/BHA Cleansing Gel: This Renee Rouleau cleanser was designed for acne sufferers, and includes a variety of ingredients to cleanse pores and provide exfoliation benefits as a means to reduce breakouts. Some of the ingredients in this cleanser include lactic acid, to exfoliate the skin; salicylic acid, to dissolve sebum plugs that clog pores; jojoba beads, for physical exfoliation (as opposed to chemical); and Hawaiian red marine algae, to moisturize.
- Bio Calm Repair Masque: The Renee Rouleau Repair Masque was designed to calm and soothe the skin. The manufacturer even suggests using this product after exposure to the sun or after an intense workout. This Renee Rouleau product includes ingredients like oat kernel extract, to soothe the skin and reduce inflammation; chamomilla recutita (chamomile) flower oil, to further address the inflammatory response; and bisabolol (a chemical also extracted from chamomile), to reduce skin irritation.
- Pro Remedy Oil: Designed for repair of dry, stressed skin, this Renee Rouleau oil has a variety of uses, including calming the skin, soothing eczema symptoms, and alleviating the effects of sunburn. Some of the ingredients include sweet almond oil, to moisturize the skin; safflower seed oil, to boost the skin’s natural lipid layer; rosehip oil, to repair damage with antioxidants; pomegranate seed oil, to reduce inflammation; and vitamin C, another source of antioxidants.
Renee Rouleau Spas
In addition to selling skin care products, Renee Rouleau has several spa locations in Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, and Plano, Texas. According to the manufacturer and several publications, these spas have become popular with celebrities, due to the personalized care offered by Renee Rouleau and her staff.
In fact, first time clients typically go through a questionnaire session, to determine their skin type and the unique needs of their skin. From there, the treatment sessions and the relevant ingredients are adjusted to the individual needs of the client.
Renee Rouleau Reviews
Reviews for Renee Rouleau products are quite difficult to find, which can make the shopping and decision-making process quite difficult. One of the reasons for this has to do with how the products are distributed.
As of the time of this writing, Renee Rouleau products could only be purchased directly from the manufacturer. Since the company does not offer the ability to leave reviews on its website, this makes it difficult for consumers to share their feedback about these products. Unfortunately, this results in a lack of information for the average consumer, who often relies on relevant product reviews to make their decision.
However, the small amount of Renee Rouleau reviews that are available tend to focus on the cost of the products, and suggest that the results sometimes may not warrant the high price.
Renee Rouleau Side Effects
Side effects from Renee Rouleau are not believed to be a big concern. The company does not use artificial fragrances or parabens, which can reduce instances of adverse reactions. However, individuals with plant-based allergies may be more prone to experiencing side effects, due to the high content of botanical extracts. Therefore, it’s a good idea to perform an overnight skin patch test of Renee Rouleau you are considering, before using more extensively.
