Eye Cream Reviews

How to Choose the Best Eye Cream

If you have never chosen an eye cream before to treat puffiness, dark circles, or to lessen the appearance of blood vessels under the eyes, you will find that the brand and ingredient choices seem endless and you may wonder if choosing the best eye cream is even possible. With so many options available, this can seem like a daunting task; however, the more you understand your skin’s own individual type and how it reacts to different ingredients, choosing the best eye cream will be much easier. The best way to begin is by narrowing down your choices by not only your skin type, but by the issues you’re trying to treat. This is because the best eye cream isn’t necessarily the one that’s the most expensive or has the most fancy-sounding ingredients, but one that will have the most effective impact on the sensitive skin under and around your eyes without clogging pores and creating more problems.

What is the Best Eye Cream for Your Individual Skin Type?

Many skin care companies claim that they sell the best eye cream because their brand treats a number of issues such as puffiness, dark circles, and dryness that can contribute to premature aging. But not all eye creams are created equal, and oftentimes the marketing department of a skin care company will make the products sound much more amazing than they really are. Hey, just because the ingredients may treat a number of symptoms, that doesn’t mean that it’s the best eye cream for you. In fact, the best under eye cream for you is the one that treats specific symptoms and that contains ingredients that won’t irritate your skin. For example, if you are trying to treat wrinkles and dryness and have sensitive skin, the best eye cream will be one that contains a hydrating agent, collagen or hyaluronic acids, and one that contains no fragrance or preservatives. However, if you want to treat dark circles under the eyes, then you will need an eye cream with completely different ingredients.

Choosing the Best Eye Cream for Dark Circles Under Eyes

If you have dark circles under the eyes that are caused by a lack of sleep, certain foods, allergies, or if you have very light skin, then the best under eye cream to choose is one that contains caffeine as the active ingredient. When applied topically, this ingredient constricts the blood vessels that lie under the thin skin under the eye and reduce the visibility of dark circles. Another ingredient that you should look for in the best eye cream for dark circles is a brightening agent that can help you reduce the appearance of dark circles cosmetically.

The Best Eye Cream for Dark Blood Vessels

Dark circles under the eyes are also caused by inflamed capillaries under the thin skin of the eye, which makes the skin look darker than it really is. If you’re trying to treat this issue, then the best eye cream in this case will contain anti-inflammatory ingredients, such as chrysin, which is a natural element derived from honey. When the inflammation is eased, the dark circles will appear less prominent. If you have any honey or plant-based allergies, consult your dermatologist before using products that contain chrysin.

How to Find the Best Eye Cream for Eye Puffiness

Treating eye puffiness can be a challenge, as there many factors that cause it, from how much salt you eat to how much sleep you get. If you’re shopping for a cream to treat this puffiness, look for ingredients such as hydrating, non-greasy oils and those that soothe inflammation. However, with eye puffiness, even the best eye cream may not show significant results without accompanying dietary and sleep pattern changes.

If you’re looking for an unbiased review of eye creams, you’ve come to the right place. The Dermatology Review has reviewed hundreds of eye creams in our labs and we not only bring you candidate reviews, we bring you scientific data on which products work. Sadly, eye cream manufacturers make outlandish claims about what their products can do. Too often these claims are unsabstaniated. Companies go as far as promising to eradicate dark circles, bags, puffiness, crows feet, wrinkles. Forget about surgery. Forget about fillers. Forget about lasers. We will take care of all of your eye woes in one cream that you need to use twice a day and you will get looking 10 years younger. If this sounds too good to be true, you’re probably right. However, some eye creams can help some of these signs but you need to be realised about the results you can expect from a product. Over the counter eye creams have not nor do they need to be reviewed by the FDA, therefore the only judge in whether an eye cream works or not is you because often the eye cream manufacturers are using third party companies to make their eye creams for them.

Before you purchase an eye cream, make sure you read this full article. We will then use our proprietary method to rank the best eye creams for the specific concerns you have. After searching for eye cream reviews online we read far too many consumers has been ripped off. The most important thing is to make sure that the products have a money back guarantee, ask for this in writing and what the concessions are because often the return fees outweigh any refunds you might be entitled to.

When we talk about eye creams we refer to serums, lotions, creams and anything that can be found in a bottle. We aren’t interested in reviewing products at the physicians office because we do not believe in surgical procedures around the eyes given the close closeness to the eyes, the risks and the horror stores we have heard.

Best Anti Aging Eye Cream
Our favorite product is Advanced Dermatology. This clever product utilizes breakthrough plant stem cells and peptides to regenerate the skin around the eyes. It targets all types of aging and dark circles. Whilst this product delivered unrivaled anti aging benefits, it might not be suitable for individuals with very dry eyes as it is in a serum. Serums have much higher concentrations of active ingredients but for your readers with extremely dry eyes this product might not be suitable. However, if you are concerned with the signs of aging and damage – such as crows feet and other wrinkles, dark circles, bags, etc – this is a must try eye cream. Read More.

I have many fine lines around the eyes. I also suffer from crow’s feet. The dark circles under my eyes add to my woes. All of these together make my eyes look extremely ugly. I searched for eye cream reviews and found many brands. I also searched for under eye cream reviews but I could not make up my mind regarding which cream I should buy. I found the reviews of Dr Nick Lowe eye cream and Roc eye cream very positive and I’m going to purchase either one of them.

  2. Madison

I needed a good eye cream for my mom so I searched for eye cream reviews online. Mom has some ark circles and wrinkles around her eyes so I want a good wrinkle eye cream for her. Her skin is also very sensitive and delicate, so I just want a very mild cream, so that there are no side effects. I have heard that Korres age reversing and eye cream and Joan rivers eye cream are very good. I would like to know if they are suitable for sensitive skin.

  3. katie mcloud

I have been searching for an eye cream that is not greasy or irritating…and I chose Made from Earth’s Chamomile eye Cream – and it is way better! It goes on and moisturizes my eye area so well. I have noticed a reduction in the lines and wrinkles around my eyes as well as a decrease in the puffiness in my under eye area.

  4. Kimberly

I have been using La Prairie for 30 years. People are amazed when they find out how old I am. There was a short time in there that I didn’t use the product because I started to believe all the hype that Oil of Olay, Lancome Regenerist etc. are better or the same. I came to the conclusion that they are definatly not. La Prairie is very expensive, but I always had my husband give it to me for my birthday or Christmas, or I budgeted for it. I am so glad I did. My skin looks soooo much better when I use it. My favorite thing is the stress cream, the smell is divine. I love it. I was just coming on here because I was wondering if you truly need a separate cream for eyes, or if that is hype too. It’s time to reorder, and I was wanting to get more stress cream, but am totally out of eye cream…sometimes it’s hard to do both because of the cost. But again, honestly, if you can swing it, it’s THE best.

Skin around the eyes is very delicate and I wish to protect and care for it optimally. Eye cream reviews are often misleading so I consulted a dermatologist. Based on his recommendations, I decide to first check myself. I looked up Roc retinol correxion eye cream reviews and Korres age reversing and eye cream reviews. They were pretty good. However, the best was Joan Rivers eye cream reviews. I tried the retinol cream and saw some changes in my skin. After finishing the first pack, I decided to switch and used Joan Rivers and I was astonished by the marked difference in the appearance of the skin around my eyes. Dark circles reduced considerably and my eyes no longer looked puffy.

I used to use Clinique, but it stopped working after a while. After turning 40, I started to notice that I was getting crows feet around my eyes. Living in a very dry area, it didn’t seem to matter what type of moisturizer I used, my skin still remained extremely dry. I started using the Made from Earth Chamomile Eye Therapy on a daily basis and I see a major difference. It does not take much to provide an ample amount of moisture to my eye area. I started to notice that after using it for a couple of days that my skin was becoming much softer and younger looking. As a result of the product, the lines that I had around my eyes became less noticeable.

  7. Eye Creams

As you can see above there is a large pile of eye cream recommendations. Its always recommended going into a department store and drying the different eye creams to see which one is right for you. I spend a 3 hours at Bloomingdales testing different products. If you are nice enough they will even give you samples you can try and you can come back and buy your favorite.

  8. Karen

Dr Oz NEVER recommends products! There’s a few companies(?) that use his name to lure people in whether they’re beauty products or health claims!
Looking for any reviews for City eye cream. I’m specifically looking for lift and reducing puffiness under the eye. I like the Garnier eye roller for the puffiness, it cool, refreshing and does reduce the puffiness I wake up to in the am. As far as the eye lift, I’ve switched around and don’t have a specific ‘go-to’ eye cream mainly because nothing has really made a noticeable difference. I was wondering if whom ever has tried it can mention their age,..not because I’m nosey but because I think it makes a difference in what women need in products. Btw I’m 53,….and while your at it, does anyone have a fav lifting/firming cream?! Aargh!

  9. Jenny

I wholeheartedly recommend Shiseido Bio-Performance Super Corrective Eye Cream. This product is wonderful if you wake up in the morning and have have dry eyes and need something rich. It is not greasy and absorbs. It does not cause breakouts. I tried many of the products recommend by Dr Oz, Allure Magazine and Consumer Reports but they are all no good.

  10. Amanda

In my opinion, the best eye cream for wrinkles is Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Firming/Sculpting Eye Creme. This one is not designed for dark circles but it certainly helps to firm and tighten around the eyes. If you are looking for a good anti aging eye cream I would strong recommend this. You can buy Estee Lauder products from Von Maur or Belk and they often times offer gifts with purchase when you buy over $50.

  11. LAUCIE

You wont find a good eye cream that will aid dark circles or any form of aging under $45. Those products are just filled with glycerin, lanolin and other emulsifiers. You need something that has anti aging ingredients to do all those things and a good product will set you back closer to $100. Would you like me to recommend the one I am using?

  12. Soniya

What is an inexpensive eye cream for fine lines that you have used and liked?I have some lines under my eyes from allgeries, genetics, and rubbing them. I’ve tried some eye creams that haven’t worked. What are some relatively inexpensive (under $45) eye creams you have tried and got noticeable results from?

  13. Katy

I tried Shiseido Bio-Performance Super Corrective Eye Cream but I did not see any difference. This product was very rich and has a beautiful texture but I was hoping it would make some difference to the wrinkles around my eyes and dark spots.

  14. Stephanie

I like Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream but I wish it was more hydrating as I find my eyes are still flaky. And yes, they should definitely make an eye cream with spf as most sunblocks cause my eyes to get very watery.

  15. Sandra

Eye creams wont do anything for bags, maybe dark circles but definitely not bags. I have the same problem, maybe worse and I was told that surgery is an option but it is too risky. I have heard that there are some lasers that work over time but I am waiting for a consultation with my dermatologist. I get the feeling that people expect anti aging miracles from their eye creams and think by applying a cream all their wrinkles around the eyes and dark circles will just disappear but unfortunately that is not the case.

  16. Shelly

I have dark circles, unsightly bags and wrinkles (crows feet) around and under my eyes). I have tried every eye cream for wrinkles including every product in best eye creams above and none of the them work. Aging is inevitable and anti aging creams just do not work and are a waste of money. I look at photos when I was 20 and I am 42 now and I can see how much older I look and there is nothing a cream can do for me.

  17. Sarah

I have a lot of lines and wrinkles around my eyes and was having botox until I found out that it was making more wrinkles appear in places I never had wrinkles before. There are many options above but what is the best eye cream for wrinkles? Is there anything that is as powerful as botox?

  18. Velma

Botox is the best eye cream for wrinkles.
Nothing else works around the eyes.
You just need to find a dermatologist that knows what he is doing.

  19. Josy

Skip the expensive stuff and buy a good natural eye cream. Since it is so close to the eyes it is better to use something organic because the chemicals will go into the body. I use a pure hyaluronic acid serum and find this to work but my skin is not that dry. It does help with lines and wrinkles and even dark circles.

  20. Rome

This product works well! Get rid of them dark rings under your eyes. There are many other products out there that do a good job.

  21. Michelle

Has anyone tired city rapid repair eye cream? Just ordered it, hope I am not wasting my money. Would love to hear from anyone who has tried this.

    Thanks
    Michelle .

    • Karen

      Hey Michelle,
I was wondering how you like the City eye cream. I literally was doing a search on unbiased reviews for the City eye cream since it seems that all the reviews out there are advertisements. I’ve used the City lip plumper and love it. So I was about to buy some more lip plumper when they asked if I wanted to add their eye cream to the order. Since it’s not cheap I wanted to see if I should,…so,…do you like it? Would you get it again? And no offense but how old are you? Lol,..I just wanted to know if it works for people who need it,..like me, I’m 53, lol.

      • Donna

I just returned the City Eye Cream. I was very disappointed in it. The texture was thick and did not penetrate into the skin. I had to rub it (which is not a good thing) under the eye and it still did not soak in. It caked on top of the skin. Since I returned it within their policy, they refunded my money with no problem at all.

  22. Megan

I am a big fan of the Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Firming Eye Cream. I was actually using Clinique Eye Cream before but I saw this in the staff shop (inviitation from a friend who works there) and then tried the Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Firming Eye Cream and was very happy with the results. Seriously, this is the best eye cream. Well maybe not best because I have not tried everything but it is a good eye cream.

  23. Jacqueline

AcquaCures Ultralift Protein eye cream from Preston Wynne Spa is the best eye cream. I’ve tried every eye cream on the planet and this was the only one that worked. It makes me look at least five years younger.

  24. Kitty

What about a dark circle eye cream for puffiness and wrinkles? I’ve heard the best eye cream is lumiere eye cream but I am not sure where to buy it. I have heavy dark circles, wrinkles and puffiness that just does not look good. It doest matter what time I sleep or how many hours sleep I get I just cant seem to get rid of these dark circles? What is the best eye wrinkle cream girls or am I just wasting my time with skin care?

  25. admin

Thanks for sharing your eye cream reviews It looks like there are a few creams that have been mentioned as the best wrinkle cream. We will certainly keep these products on our radar.

  26. Reece

Thanks for the list of best eye creams stiff
I am a big fan of Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle
Gentle but effective anti wrinkle eye cream
    Good value for money

  27. Karina

I have dark circles and no eye cream has helped this.
I was told you need to have cosmetic surgery or put filler underneath.
Instead, I am just going to use a concealer for the dark circles instead.
My dark circles and bags aren’t bad but I feel for people who have bad dark circles because it looks like there is not much you can do.

  28. Natasha

Has anyboyd tried the Bremenn Miracle Cream for dark circles or know of a eye cream for dark circles that works? Bremenn Miracle Cream claim they have the best eye cream but I want to see some reviews first.

  29. Patrick

Shiseido Eye creams are by far the best eye creams. Seriously, they are very good. I’ve tried Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream but it just does not compare.

  30. Denise

Disagee about Strivectin SD Eye Cream

Clinique All About Eyes all about eyes is good but it is not the best eye cream.

Lancome Eye Creams are the best :)

thanks everybody for sharing their eye cream reviews. I think the best eye cream is the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide tightening eye cream. I also like their prevage serum, great for hyperpigmentation. I use a Vichy sunblock around my eyes when I go out into the sun but it does cause my eyes to water. I hope other people can share their review of eye creams.

    • Nur

As a dermatologist I am cntotasnly asked this question and many of my clients have come to me concerned about wrinkles and sagging around their eyes. Seeing as though your mother is 49 the wrinkles are beginning to become quite noticeable arent they? You are going to want a cream that is going to rejuvenate her aged skin cells and put more elasticity and youth back into her skin. I work in this area and I actually recommend you use a new treatment that I have only began to tell my clients. It contains a wide range of natural ingredients which is vital for keeping skin complexion and its best possible appearance. It also contains Acai berry one of natures true super foods which actually has 25 times more anti oxidants then blueberries which are considered high. You also mention that your budget is $50, you can actually get this product entirely free for your first trial and they will deliver it straight to your door no matter where you live. My clients have found their service terrific and the results are at a worldwide standard. I’ve organised a free trial for you which you can get from the url below

In July 2013 I am the age of 34 and I have visible dark circles and wrinkles around the eyes. Mum tells me I dont drink enough water so I now have dark circles but I’m now sure thats the cause. I’ve read genetics plays a role in the whole thing so I wonder if I can blame her instead of dehydration. I was wondering if you could recommend an eye cream for somebody my age who has dark circles simply because of genetics (or not drinking enough water).

  35. Peter

I want an eye cream that will get rid of dark circles when I dont get enough sleep, pufiness when I go out and get drunk the night before, anti aging for going into the sun and not wearing sunscreen and getting all wrinkles around the eyes and lifting as well?

What do you girls think is the best eye cream?

  36. Lilya

I have fine lines but my main problem is dark circles because the eye area around my skin is quite thin. People think I party too much or don’t get enough sleep, but its hereditary .The best eye cream is Georgia Armani Regenessence Eye Rejuvenating Cream. It’s $90 from Saks Fifth Avenue and it will last you around 5 months. It has caffeine in it so it helps with dark circles around the eyes. It’s very hydrating and worth every dollar. I’ve used their eye balm but I think that one is for people over 60 but I’m 45.

  37. FiaLAY

Since everybody is commenting on their favorite eye creams I cant hold myself back. I’m not an expert but I do have dry eyes and the best eye cream for dry eyes is All About Eyes by Clinique. If you’ve used this product you will know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, you’re missing out. Not sure it has much anti aging benefits and all but I don’t beleive most of the claims in the anti aging eye creams. It’s a top product if you’re suffering from dry eyes and I’ve dried them all.

  38. Harper

I’ve struggled with uneven skin tone and wrinkles my whole life and I’ve tried lots of different skin care products but nothing seems to be able to help. I cant afford to continue buying products that just don’t work. Can somebody tell me what the best skin care range is for uneven skin tone and preventing wrinkles that you can buy online or in Miami?

  39. Harper

The best eye cream for dark circles in and wrinkles hands down is VichyProEven Daily Eye Corrector from Ulta. It’s like $30 and lasts for 4 months and you will see results after 2 or 3 months. My skin has looked super good since using this eye cream and I wont use anything else.

  40. Dis

Can you recommend an eye cream that contains retinol, retin a or a similar vitamin a derivative?
I use retinol from skinceauticals and it makes my skin look puffy and thick the next morning which has a similar effect to a heavy person but when I apply this product to my eyes it just causes the inside of my eyes to go read. I mean the skin around the eyes look good but the problem is the eyes themselves. it looks like I had too many drinks of alcohol. Are there any safer eye products I should be using?

  41. Andy

Absolution Le Soin Regard Eye Cream is the best organic eye cream you will find anywhere. The cream lists the percentage of certified organic ingredients – the only skin care products brand I have seen that does this. I appreciate their moisturisers as well. Absolutely Devine. Highly recommended. Good value for money. From memory the eye cream was like $25.

  42. Mikes

The best eye cream is definitely the Laura Mercier Repair Eye Cream. I’ve been using it under concealer for dark circles and making the frame look thinner. Don’t use something overly drying or firming but hydrating when your using concealer. Also dab on as little as possible and layer instead so the aim is to put as little on as possible. These eye cream reviews are helpful, thank you. I might try the few above.

  43. Sarah

I like the thicker eye creams as my eyes can get very dry. My absolute favorite is a cream named Absolule from a skin care brand called Lancôme. It is very good for fragile eyes and extremely hydrating. I use it day, afternoon and night and it helps me hide my wrinkles and dark circles. I’ve tried a lot of these different creams and this is really the best one. There is also a cream from SKII that is very hydrating but the texture is not as viscous. These creams are very expensive but worth it if you have dry eyes.

  44. SweeterShaz

There are lots of eye creams with SPF, I think they use a lighter SPF around the eyes so it doesnt cause the eyes to swell up. I think there are a few on the Sephora store or even just go to Walmart and they have the fast ones.

I am looking for some feedback on what type of eye cream might contain a SPF without causing irritation. I’m asking because when I was in Asia last year I noticed this was a big thing. Wouldn’t this be a way to prevent dark circles? Doesn’t the sun cause pigmentation and then give the appearance of dark circles? Why don’t US made products contain SPF like their asian counterparts? Is it because they have a greater whitening culture? I mean I’m all for a tan but not around my eyes, especially when it is going to give the impression of dark circles.

      Hi Derm Review

Can you please advise on best eye creams for upper eyelid? I am only 30 but in the last few months I have developed horrible thick creasing all above my natural crease, just over eye socket.

I always read that you’re not meant to put eye cream over the lid area, but how else can you take care of this area?

Just to say I don’t suffer from under eye aging or crows feet – it’s just the area directly above lid and under eyebrow.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks. Allie

    Hi there
I would like to rate my four favourite eye creams. I love these products and use the different types depending on the day and my need.
La Mer ‘The Eye Concentrate’ – This eye cream is a must for winter as my skin is dehydrated.
Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector for dark circles and in the morning
Caudalie Vinoperfect Complexion Correcting Radiance Serum for eye wrinkles
SK-II Stempower when I want to indulge.
    Hope you agree.

Thanks for taking the time to provide the reviews of the different eye creams. I was wondering if you can write a review on products for Dark Circles. I have used all the different products and even been to my dermatologist and I have seen only things worsen. I understand that dark circles are difficult to treat and I am not looking for a miracle but a product that can reduce them over time. Please let me know if you have found anything that might be useful as I don’t want to have surgery done. I live in Seattle but can travel if required. What is the best eye cream for dark circles? Help…

I need to share my eye cream review. I have also tried many products and failed. A friend of mine recommended a eye product calledN eocutis Lumière Bio-Restorative. It has Caffeine and it constricts the blood vessels so dark circles don’t disappear. I think it works like the cream that they used on Miss Congeniality but obviously safer and more gentle. What I wanted to ask is can I use this product long term with no adverse reacion to my eyes? It works, my eyes look good and I don’t look tired but I’m worried about longer term damage. You can buy the product from Dr. Proffer who is in Amarillo, Texas or online but I see him anyway to have laser done.
